SIIA NetGain Conference

Greetings from the Software and Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) NetGain Conference at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.

I’m attending the conference for two reasons. One, WestBlog is a finalist for an SIIA CODiE Award in the Best Corporate Blog category and Westlaw Business is a finalist in the category of Best Online Business Information Service.

The second reason is to highlight some of the topics up for discussion at the conference for WestBlog, including a panel this morning on innovation featuring Peter Jackson, chief scientist and vice president, Thomson Reuters.

NetGain has several other interesting sessions on tap, and keynotes from author Judith Estrin, Brewster Kahle of the Internet Archive, Chris Anderson of Wired Magazine and Kara Swisher of D: All Things Digital.

Westlaw Business announces new UK Securities Centre

Thomson Reuters just rolled out a major expansion of its global Westlaw Business platform, that now included the Securities-UK Centre.

The new center provides lawyers in the United Kingdom (UK) and United States with keen insights on UK disclosure requirements.

It has fully searchable listings from the Financial Services Authority and relevant legislation and guidance. In addition to Securities UK, Westlaw Business features specialized work centers including Restructuring, Securities-U.S and Securities-Canada, M & A, Private Equity and LIVEDGAR.

In the news release announcing the expanded service, Thomson Reuters, Legal CEO Peter Warwick said, “The launch of Westlaw Business as a true global platform for business law professionals all over the world is a cornerstone for our efforts and our commitment to support legal practitioners on a global basis.”
