Stanford Law School has released a survey of law librarians about their preference of Westlaw over LexisNexis for online legal research.
Law Librarians and LexisNexis vs. Westlaw is the work of Stanford’s Paul Lomio and Erika Wayne who conducted their survey in late April and early May, and released their report this month. It shows a preference for Westlaw among law school, law firm and government librarians represented in the survey responses.
- Law school respondents preferred Westlaw at a rate of nearly four-to-one
- 78% of federal court/government respondents preferred Westlaw
- 60% of the law firm respondents preferred Westlaw
The survey is summarized extensively on Lomio and Wayne’s blog, Legal Research Plus and is mentioned by Joe Hodnicki on the Law Librarian Blog.
Hodnicki also cites a similar survey by Franklin Pierce Law Center’s Jon Cavicchi on Westlaw.
